AMURT NORTH WEST
WHO WE ARE
AMURT North West is a branch of the AMURT UK (charity no. 327216). AMURT UK was established in 1986 as a grassroots organisation.
We form part of a global network of AMURT chapters (Individual groups), who all deliver a broad range of services to those in need.
WHAT WE DO
We work with a range of organisations and groups to develop and run projects and initiatives aimed and benefiting vulnerable people in need.
OUR VISION
To build and sustain healthy, vibrant and connected communities.
OUR MISSION
To enable and empower local communities to find long-term solutions to local problems.
OUR VALUES AND PRINCIPLES
We put inclusiveness, respect, equality and dignity for all at the heart of what we do.
Our approach is collaborative and facilitative. We seek to bring organisations and groups together to pursue the common goal of having a positive impact in local communities.
OUR AIMS
-
To play our part in improving the health and wellbeing for people and groups experiencing poverty, isolation and disadvantage.
-
To be at the cutting edge of building strong and sustainable community alliances and activism, all focused on enhancing lives and nurturing potential.
OUR OBJECTIVES
-
To act as a gateway hub that supports the growth of community led initiatives and projects.
-
To promote community ownership and autonomy, by helping people collectively to self-define their needs, aspirations and goals.
-
To help strengthen the participation and collective voice of individuals and groups who experience greatest inequalities and barriers to being seen, heard and involved in our communities.
OUR TEAM
We have a diverse team of staff and volunteers to run all our activities. We have an ongoing volunteer recruitment programme, so that we are better able to respond to local needs across the region.
We have a North-West working group, made up of a range of professionals and local stakeholders who help us develop and coordinate our work.
We work closely with AMURT UK Board of Trustees, who have overall responsibility for AMURT’s operation in the UK
